* I hate Ohio State fans! They are already making excuses on why they almost lost to Ohio U, and why they might lose to USC. Just face facts, you just aren't as good as you think you are. I know it is tough to live in a state that has absolutely nothing in terms of sports, except your Buckeyes, but lets be a little more realistic. Yes, we know the Bengals, Browns, Cavs, Reds and Indians have all been terrible for years now and never come close to winning anything, but that doesn't mean that you should tell yourself that tOSU is that great when they aren't. So, go on the road, with or without Beanie Wells (it wasn't going to make that big of a difference anyway) and get your ass kicking that EVERYONE nationally already knows you are going to get. Hey, look at it this way, you will get to be over-hyped by the media twice this year. This week before USC stomps you then again when you run through the lame ass Big Ten conference and get to the National Title game AGAIN, even though you aren't a top 5 team. Then again, you will get stomped by a far superior team, but you will have another excuse for that game, you always do!!
* Being a Pitt and Big East conference fan, I had mixed emotions watching UNC embarrass Rutgers last night on ESPN. My first thought was, wow, the Big East really does suck this year. This is probably the worst it had been since VT, BC and The U left. My second thought was, wait a second maybe Pitt has a chance in this terrible conference. See this is what I do to myself, now my expectations are high again. You can't be a true Pitt fan unless you set expectations that the team always fails to reach!
* I also hate Notre Dame fans, Lou Holtz in particular. Notre Dame is no longer relevant in terms of college football talk, yet they still act like they run the universe. For instance, just a small sampling, their game starts at 3:43pm this week. Are you kidding me? I'm not sure why that bothers me, maybe just the pure arrogance of the university does it to me. This is a team that nearly lost and should have lost to San Diego State. This is the same team that when the San Diego State head coach was asked if Notre Dame was better then Cal Poly San Luis Obispo (the team that beat SDS one week earlier), he couldn't give a straight answer and said, "That's a tough question. It's hard to say who's better. They both beat us." That's right it is tough to answer if you are better then Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, yet you complain that the Michigan game this week isn't getting hyped enough. Why should it? Both teams SUCK!
* By the way, I am also looking forward to Pitt getting to play Notre Dame of San Luis Obispo November 1st!
Okay, on to this weeks predictions!
Last week was a fairly easy week, I went 3-0 and called the Upset game (if you took the points). That would put my record at 6-2 for the season. This week we have some better games so lets get started.
TONIGHT:
Kansas BEATS South Florida - I'm torn between this one, but the Big East sucking and UCF taking the Bulls to OT last week leaves a sour taste in my mouth.
SATURDAY:
Wisconsin BEATS Fresno State on the road - should be the 2nd best game of the weekend.
Arkansas @ Texas, I'm going with Hurricane Ike to win this showdown!
UCLA BEATS BYU- BYU got lucky last week, won't be so lucky against a much better Pac-10 team.
THE SHOWDOWN GAME:
I wrote this during my preseason preview and I'm sticking with it!
My prediction is that USC is up by 14 by the end of the 1st quarter and by at least 21 at some point in the 4th quarter. (tOSU over the past 3 year is 22-2 vs the Big Ten, and 3-3 vs BCS teams). Instead of building a wall at the Mexican border, I say the NCAA builds a wall at the Florida border to prevent tOSU from getting to Miami for the national championship thus saving themselves the embarrassment of getting thrashed AGAIN!!!! I hope USC beats them by 50, and does it without Matt Sanchez!
USC DESTROYS tOSU
UPSET OF THE WEEK:
Although I already gave you one with UCLA beating BYU (the Bruins are an 8.5 point underdog) I got another one for you. The Ramblin Wreck of Georgia Tech, going into Lane Stadium and beating a completely lost Virginia Tech team,
ENJOY YOUR FOOTBALL THIS WEEKEND!!!
