Weekly Thoughts and Predictions

The Pride of West Virginia UniversityPAC-MAN JONES

a little theme music for the Pac-Man Jones part

No I will not call him the Adam, or Mr. Jones like he requested. Pac-man Jones has once again gotten in trouble. This time fighting at a Dallas area hotel with a team appointed bodyguard. Yes that is right, the Cowboys not only hire thugs to play for them, but they also hire bodyguards for the thugs, way to lookout for the good of the organization. Actually Pac-man has FOUR bodyguards that the Cowboys hired for him. That is the same number of career interceptions this guy has. We aren’t talking about a Rod Woodson, or a Ronnie Lott or a Ty Law guy here; we are talking about a guy with 4 CAREER interceptions. There have been 18 times in NFL history that one guy intercepted 4 passes in ONE GAME, this guy has done that in his sorry career, yet he makes headlines?! This guy is completely irrelevant in the grand scheme of things, yet we all give him so much attention. WHY!? Bryant McFadden came into the league the same time Pac-man did and he has 7 career INT’s, and Bryant McFadden stinks! Hell, there are two guys this season that already have 4 INT’s, why do we care about Pac-man Jones?!

Jerry Jones (no relation that I know of) made possibly the dumbest statement possible about this whole situation basically saying that he never would have anticipated something happening with Pac-man. REALLY?! Really? How in the world did he get to where he is today being that stupid? I mean, minus his yearlong suspension, minus the fact that he was just reinstated to the league 42 days ago, minus the numerous legal issues that include assaulting a woman WHILE ON SUSPENSION from the league, yeah, looking at it that way I can complete agree with Jerry Jones!

The NFL should punish the Cowboys for NOT punishing Pac-man Jones!

NUMBERS

0 – Despite what this article in the Miami Herald may want you to believe about Tim Tebow, this is the number of career 4th quarter comebacks he has led as the starting QB of the Florida Gators

88 – Number of points scored by Alabama in the 1st quarter of games this season, outscoring its opponents 88-0.

0:00:00 – The amount of time that Alabama, Oklahoma and Missouri have trailed this season, they are the only 3 D-1A schools that can make that claim.

3 – The number of straight wins Pitt has over ranked teams, ironically enough; it is also the number of straight games Pitt has lost as a ranked team.

BASEBALL

I like the Red Sox and Dodgers to win their two leagues and meet in the Fall Classic. What a sight it would be to have Manny, Nomar and Derek Lowe all play in Fenway AGAINST the Sox in the World Series. Throw in Joe Torre in the visiting dugout once again coaching against the Sox.

THIS WEEKS PICKS

A sub par week last week going 3-2, for the season I am 21-9.

With a huge week of college football we have 7 games plus the upset of the week pick coming up. Let’s get started.

Cincy wins at home over Rutgers
LSU goes into the swamp and gets win
Georgia gets all they can handle from a bad Tennessee team, but pulls out the win in the 4th quarter.
Texas Tech beats Nebraska, but not by the 20+ points Vegas is predicting
Southern Cal is in cruise control now, they pound Arizona State
Penn State offense is finally slowed down a bit in Madison, but not enough, the Lions win.

THE RED RIVER SHOOT-OUT
Texas seems to only win this game during either dominant UT seasons or down years for OU. Oklahoma always seems to win this game when both teams are even and vying for the top spot in the Big XII South. I like OU to win BIG in Dallas.

UPSET OF THE WEEK:
Considering that I already gave you Tennessee, Nebraska and LSU as covering this week and LSU winning out right that is all I got for you this week.

ENJOY YOUR FOOTBALL WEEKEND!!!!!
